Banning All MuuMuus!

mrs_muumuu

Okay, so I’m definitely not big enough to have to wear a muumuu, nor do I own one. But I do fall into the trap of dressing for my body size and shape.

Trap you ask? Isn’t that what all the “fashion experts” tell us? What Not To Wear has made it its mantra. While this is true, it is easy to forget you are trying to shed those few extra pounds when you wear a flowy shirt, stretchy pants, or that dress that doesn’t hug in all the wrong places.

Now I’m not suggesting that we go out in clothes that are too tight and/or show way too much skin that should be hidden. BUT – There are times when this may be appropriate and also helpful.

Right now I am sitting at home. The kids are in bed. The husband is out of town on business. This is MY time. It is also my time to convince myself in several different ways to cheat on my promise to cut out sugary snacks and not eat after 8:30.

So, in the privacy of my alone time in my own house, I have decided to don only the necessities. A tight tank top and boy shorts. All my curves are hanging out. I’m not ashamed of my body, but I, like everyone, have curves I love and curves I hate.

The reason for my madness? Well, it has already stopped me twice in my mindless eating tracks to the pantry. It switched my brain back on to remind me that I don’t really need that cookie, and convinced me to grab a glass of water instead.

I’ll definitely do this again. But next time I won’t forget to leave my robe on the end of the couch for use when the neighbour knocks on the door to kindly remind me that I left the garage door open…
